Earlier in the year S celebrated her birthday at Bottega Prelibato in Shoreditch. It was the best Italian food I’ve eaten outside of Italy. I couldn’t stop thinking about it for months afterwards and kept meaning to take Mr Man but life kept getting in the way. You have no idea how delighted I was when I saw they were opening up a second branch in Wapping.
We went there for brunch in August to celebrate our anniversary and I’ve been back there many times since as it’s perfectly situated on the East London Line and only a ten minute walk from my East End Abode.
Bottega has very friendly staff, delicious food for any time of the day, an impressive wine selection and, most importantly in our eyes, eye watering cakes, good coffee and nice tea.
On that particular day in August Mr Man had an omelette filled with ham, mushrooms, onions and cheddar. I went for pancakes with fresh raspberries and we shared some bread with Sicilian jam. Both were delicious and the accompanying green tea and flat white were nicely done and enjoyable.
Will we be back? Well, we’ve been back many times since. A few days later R and I had pizzettes and cans of San Pellegrino. It is good value, the staff are really nice and the location is really good for us. Another little gem to add to the wonderful ‘village’ that is Wapping.
Bottega can be found on Metropolitan Wharf on your way to the Prospect of Whitby. Nearest tube is Wapping on the East London Line.
